So, Mr Gideon LOVES banana bread! I'm not much of a cake baker, but banana bread is super quick and easy to make. Anyway, he has been enjoying lots of it over the last few weeks, so I decided to make one for someone else this time. But as I took it out of the cake tin, it began to fall apart. I was disappointed and told my lovely husband he could eat some as I wasn't giving this broken cake away. He, as you can imagine, was not disappointed lol. Ok, I'll admit, we both began to eat the banana bread, bite after bite. It was delicious! We devoured half the cake, looked at each other and said, 'Sometimes the best cakes are the broken one's.' Then we just couldn't stop and literally ate the whole cake! It was the best I've made lol 😂

It got me thinking about life and how there is beauty in the broken. Friends, don't ever be afraid of the broken places of your life. Often when we are broken, that's when the light and beauty within us is able to shine out. It's when we can empathise and have greater compassion for others. Don't ever think that your brokenness is ugly. In fact when you walk in vulnerability and transparency, when you allow yourself to be real and honest, that's when freedom comes. Often those who display ugliness are the ones who refuse to admit they are broken. I've met so many people who refuse to admit they have an 'issue'. They spend their whole lives trying to cover up their junk, portraying to the world 'I'm always ok', when in reality they are dying on the inside and too afraid to admit it. There is beauty in the broken. There is healing in the broken. There is redemption in the broken. There is hope in the broken. There is freedom in the broken. There is truth in the broken. There is joy in the broken. There is peace in the broken. There is love in the broken. If we were never broken, we wouldn't need to be made whole. I believe that when Jesus died, He took on our brokenness and became broken. He then rose in victory, enabling us to be free, to be made whole. The broken places in our lives can be resurrected and we can walk in freedom and wholeness, but first, we have to embrace those broken places. Today, I'm choosing to look at the broken places in my life and see them as beautiful. I'm not choosing to live broken, I want wholeness and freedom, always. But, I'm not afraid to feel broken or look broken sometimes. There is beauty in the broken, and broken cakes taste the best. Love you, friends ❤️❤️
